S.W.A.T. is an American crime action drama television series, based on the 1975 television series of the same name created by Robert Hamner and developed by Rick Husky. The new series was developed by Aaron Rahsaan Thomas and Shawn Ryan, and premiered on CBS on November 2, 2017. The series is produced by Original Film, CBS Studios and Sony Pictures Television.
On May 9, 2019, the series was renewed for a third season by CBS, which premiered on October 2, 2019. In May 2020, CBS renewed the series for a fourth season which premiered on November 11, 2020. The show exists in a shared universe with the FX crime drama The Shield, which was also created by Ryan.
Shemar Moore as Sergeant II Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson Jr., a Los Angeles native who was promoted to team leader in a blatant attempt to ease the tensions between the community and the LAPD. He knows everyone in the neighborhood and treats them with respect and they usually give him information pertinent to his cases.
